Hi! It’s nice to meet you

THE TEA ON MARINA, JOEL, & ERICA

The numbers are nice, but the big question is - “How’d we get here?”

We’re former coworkers (shout out to all the therapists working in jails!) who formed a trauma bond at work, became besties, and met up for regular happy hours and brunch to talk life and work (think Sex & The City but more therapisty)

One-by-one, we dipped our toes into the private practice world. But we were still undercharging and overworking. And it wasn’t fun (whoever said “When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life” was NOT an underpaid therapist).

Then this funny thing happened - we started talking openly about our businesses. We talked money. We talked struggles. We coached, supported, and celebrated one another. And our businesses started booming.

What we learned along the way is too valuable not to share. So we’ve created the program we wish we’d had all those years ago. And we can’t wait to share it with you.

We’re all about

PASSIONATE PEOPLE

We love helping people with mission-driven businesses make a difference

COURAGE & KINDNESS

We believe in doing the right thing for the right reasons, even if it’s scary af

INCLUSIVITY

You can sit with us (as long as you make room for everyone and you’re not an asshole)

Meet Marina

Marina was a bit of a late bloomer, not knowing what she wanted to do until her early 30s. After finally figuring it out, she went back to get her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Then she went to toil in the correctional system, the sweaty crotch of mental health care in America. Marina loved the clients, but the system was pretty broken. And she was poor. The silver lining was getting to know some other fabulous therapists, including Joel and Erica.

A few years after leaving corrections, Marina started her own private practice. But she had no idea what she was doing...her starting fee was $60 per hour. She learned a lot, and she learned a lot with her unicorn friendship group who were also venturing into private practice and coaching.

She's now a Certified Gottman Therapist and has a thriving private practice in Denver, CO. She makes well over 6 figures, while working 12-18 hours per week. And now she wants to help you do the same.

Meet Joel

Y’all, here’s a bit about Joel. He’s from small town in the midwest. A lot about Joel comes from this fact, including loving plants, enjoying good cooking, being self-entertaining (this means being a nerd), and appreciating being able to help people.

Joel began his therapy career in corrections, and also did a spell in community mental health. He learned oodles in both of these environments, including the need to make good boundaries between himself and work, and how he might always be a little poor if he stayed employed in these systems.

Joel made some damn good friendships out of these places, and they propelled each other toward private practice and greater success.

Today, Joel runs a rockin’ therapy and consultation practice. He loves it, he’s happy, he helps people, and he makes good money. So he can then enjoy his life as a nerdy plant-growing, dog-walking, soup-making, science-fiction-reading human. He’s happy enough that he wants to help you do the same.

Meet Erica

Before launching her coaching business in 2019, Erica worked as a therapist for sex offenders for 11 years and as a management consultant in Corporate for 10 years. But after burning out and spending way too much time complaining about her work, she decided to start a business (even though the idea of selling anything seemed super gross).

Erica fumbled around, tried to figure things out using free resources, and finally broke down and hired her own business coach. After hitting her first $40k month and drinking a lot of wine at happy hour, she started awkwardly talking about money and business and we never looked back.

Since then, their friendly get-togethers, happy hours, and brunches became part social fun, part business coaching. And everyone’s businesses grew - FAST.

When Erica’s not using a blend of mindset and strategy to help her clients hit big goals, she’s wifing, momming 3 kids, and drinking a sh*t ton of coffee.
